Welcome to audio PRO International

By Andy Wood
Sep 5

Welcome back. It’s been two years since Audio Pro graced the desks of the audio industry, so it’s nice to return with a new look, new extended international coverage (hence our tweak on the magazine title) and much more.

As well as the print edition, you’re obviously also aware of our new website – audioprointernational.com – carrying news, features and products and which will be updated daily. We’re also introducing a weekly email news digest so you can keep in touch with the pulse of the industry. You can sign up for that on the front page.

So, do we need another pro audio title? We believe so. I personally think that there are some great magazines out there. After all, I’ve written for most of them. I do, however, feel that there is always room, in any sector, for a magazine with a different approach and new stance.

To that end, API will act very much as a vehicle for a more technical and educational tack than its predecessor.

The article by Turbosound’s R&D team on the design of virtual point source loudspeakers (page 32) will give you an idea of what’s to come. In future issues you’ll also find technical product reviews, something that has been requested on a regular basis.

At this point, this is where you, the reader come in.

A magazine is only as good as its readership, and here we can offer a unique opportunity to mould a publication in its formative issues.

I would urge you all to contact me with your thoughts, comments, criticisms and, most importantly, your requirements. If you’ve ever picked up a magazine and thought, ‘if only they would write about...’ now’s the time to speak up.

In the next few weeks we’ll be out visiting PLASA in London, (Booth M49), AES in New York and Audex in Manchester. Please stop by and say hello.

This isn’t our magazine, or our website, it’s yours. Enjoy it.
