The Stone Roses have announced their comeback with the confirmation that they will perform at Manchester’s Heaton Park on June 29th and 30th 2012 with a world tour to follow.
After years of assurances from frontman Ian Brown and guitarist John Squire that a comeback would never happen, the band today (October 18th) held a press conference to make the announcement.
The band has also revealed that they will be incorporating new songs within the set alongside the obvious crowd-pleasers.
However, the band’s final performance together at the Reading festival in 1996 resulted in one of the most shambolic offerings in recent history, earning an unwanted place in festival folklore.
Tickets for the Heaton Park shows are expected to go on sale this Friday (21st).
