Appearing onstage together for the first time in 16 years, Manchester indie legends The Stone Roses made their live comeback at a secret gig in Warrington on Wednesday night (May 23rd), with a PA system from SSE Hire.

The surprise show at the intimate Warrington Parr Hall was announced just hours before the foursome were due to take the stage, with fans asked to turn up at the venue with items of Stone Roses memorabilia in order to gain entry.

SSE Hire provided an L-Acoustics KUDO/KARA PA for the show, and is also supplying a Control and monitors package for the tour. FOH Engineer for the tour is Robbie McGrath supported by SSE system technician Pete Hughes. Taking care of monitor mixing duties will be Mark “Magic” Ellis–Cope supported by SSE’s Chris Courtney.

The company supplied the band with equipment in the early days, including the legendary Spike Island gig, and life-long fan and SSE managing director John Penn was keen to be there and commented: "The emotional surge when they struck up the first bars of Adored shared by the expectant crowd was uplifting and joyous, a spine tingling sensation with a warm inner glow. If you were a Chelsea fan on Saturday when Drogba hit the winning penalty you would have been about half way to what it felt like!"

Penn also commented on Facebook after the show: "We've just returned from witnessing the Third Coming. I've been to a few gigs over the years and this one was pretty special. It was an amazing experience – sharing the joy and emotional exuberance of a magical musical moment. And this was a whole setlist of them."
