New sales director joins new chief operating officer

Roland UK has announced changes to its board of directors, with the commercial director, Tim Walter, taking on the role of chief operating officer and Peter Heath, the general manager of the Roland Systems Group, stepping onto the board in the newly-created position of sales director.

Citing ‘a strong show of solidarity with its dealer network’, the board of Roland UK has, for the first time in some years, two directors involved in shaping sales strategies and relationships. Tim Walter remains in charge of all sales and marketing and adds responsibility for operations to his remit. He will now be supported by Heath, who has a dedicated sales mandate.

Having spent 12 years at Roland UK in a variety of sales management roles, Heath is well known throughout the industry, having worked in music retail prior to joining Roland as well as serving time as a gigging musician.

Heath has been instrumental in Roland's entry into the pro audio sector as general manager of RSS, effectively setting up the business and developing an extensive dealer network.

Over the past two years, RSS products have headlined at the Glastonbury Festival, been permanently installed in theatres, colleges and churches, and can be found in many parts of the BBC. Heath will continue in his position in the RSS business.

John Booth, the managing director of Roland UK, welcomed Heath to his new role on the board. “Peter is hugely experienced in MI, mature and a proven professional. This is a logical and fully deserved step in his career development. Tim and Peter make a great team – their combined dedication and energy will be noticed by all our dealers."

Heath underlined the point. “Having two board directors focused on sales shows how important we think it is, in this difficult economic climate, to be alert to the commercial needs of our dealers,” he said. “My objectives include continuing the development of key strategic relationships with dealers in our network and shaping our business in a way that complements their own.”
