ABTT 09: Punters defy Tube strike

First day of London shows sees good attendance despite disrupted transport
Pro audio and theatre professionals from the greater London area fought through masses of commuters and bravely made their way to the London Royal Horticultural Halls for the opening day of the ABTT Theatre show, held on June 10th and 11th.
While the tube strike caused delays on all major arteries into the city, by late afternoon the show floor and bar were visibly buzzing with visitors. The show orgainsers reported the first day figures saw only a 10 per cent decline in attendance despite the strike.
Whether exhibiting or just poking around to check out what was going on, ABTT hosted many of the big names in UK pro audio.
Established brands like Yamaha, Martin Audio, Alcons Audio, KV2, Allen & Heath, Digico, Cadac and Sound Technology showed off their theatre gear along side up and comers like and Red Square and Opus Audio.
Sound Technology debuted the Soundcraft Si2 console, AKG DMS 700 digital wireless mic system and JoeCo's new Blackbox Recorder to the UK Theatre world.
Alcons' highlighted product of this year’s ABTT was the LR7 micro pro-ribbon line-array, the latest and smallest member of its pro-ribbon line-arrays. Alongside the LR7 was the LR7Bass, which features a newly developed dual-tuned concentric bandpass configuration, a single long-excursion 12-inch Neodymium woofer for the lower octaves.
