TC Connections installs 150 speakers and 4km of cable for €2.5m project

Caméléon has opened the first ecologically built store in Europe – a 10,000 square-metre shopping space in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Belgium.

The store’s audio system was designed by Brussels-based TV Connections Image & Sound, using 150 QSC loudspeakers and over 4km of cable. QSC’s proprietary Basis platform meets all control, zone splitting, monitoring and processing needs of the amplification and loudspeaker systems over an Ethernet network. QSC equipment was supplied by AED Import & Distribution, the manufacturer’s Benelux distributors.

TV Connections’ Arnaud (Nono) Famerée, who runs the pro audio department designed an eight-zone environment and specified coverage via QSC’s 100V line systems.

AcousticDesign AD-S52T, AD-S32T, AD-S282T and AD-C81TW acoustically-matched ceiling subwoofer speakers are used throughout. QSC’s CX series multi-channel amplifiers were chosen to drive the speakers, partly because their DataPort connectors interface with the Basis remote management system.

In total, some €2.5 million will have been invested in the project, helping to ensure that 7,250 tons less CO2 (including production of renewable energy) will be emitted over a period of 30 years. The firm CW Architects developed the concept together with the Université Catholique de Louvain (Architecture and Climat) and its spin-off, Matriciel.
