Alcons Audio heads to Jo’ burg for Mediatech Africa 09

New ribbon A/V technology to be displayed with Matrix Sound
Dutch loudspeaker manufacturer, Alcons Audio is heading south for the Mediatech Africa 09 show where it will exhibit its latest gear along side its South-African Pro-Ribbon Partner, Matrix Sound, on stand H14.
Alcons’ presence at the show, held from 23rd to 25th July at the Coca-Cola Don, Northgate Johannesburg, will not be limited to stand in the exhibition hall, but will also include the presentation of its seminar on Pro-Ribbon transducers and live demo’s outside the exhibition.
On July 23rd at 13:00h it will host a seminar on pro-ribbon transducer technology, titled: “Transducer Technology enables HiFi at Concert Sound Pressure Levels“, which will include an explanation on the history and technical background of this “new” way of sound reproduction. The presentation will also cover application stories of the products in practical applications.
The show will also serve as the African debut of the latest addition to its pro-ribbon line-arrays, the LR7 micro line-array.
With a width of three CDs and a height of 1.5 CDs, the LR7 is suited for A/V projects where very compact form factor with optimised line-array throw and imaging are required. Also on the stand will be the QR36, the 1m-height modular pro-ribbon line-source column, as recently installed in Red Bull’s Hangar-7 and the world’s fifth-largest basilica in Belgium. Alcons is boasting that the QR36 is the ideal building block for a high directivity sound system for acoustically challenging halls, without sacrificing sound quality and SPL.
Alcons will also hold ongoing low-SPL demos on Matrix Sound’s stand to display the performance of its VR8 compact pro-ribbon monitor and BF151 subwoofer. At the same time, higher SPL demos will take place during the duration of the show outside of the exhibition with the LR16 compact pro-ribbon line-array system.
