UK artist plans new studio and album release around ICON D-Control console.
UK Singer-songwriter Imogen Heap has purchased a Digidesign ICON D-Control for work on her forthcoming third solo album. The 32-fader D-Control will be the focus of a new purpose built studio in London, which is currently under construction.
Heap’s last album was recorded and mixed completely within Pro Tools, but the addition of the ICON D-Control work surface will allow her to extends the creativity of Pro Tools and edit, mix and automate from the control surface in a familiar environment. Heap is eager to get mixing started; “At the moment my ICON desk is waiting patiently beneath the dust sheets while the studio is being built around her. We’re so looking forward to getting to know each other over the next few months. The idea of actually getting out of my thin chair to mix an album with ICON is rather exciting!”
Classically trained in many instruments, Imogen Heap has achieved success as a solo artist and as one half of the duo Frou Frou. Her second album, Speak For Yourself, provided her breakthrough to the mainstream with the track Hide and Seek, featured in several TV series including The O.C. and CSI Miami.
At the 49th Annual Grammy Awards, Heap received two nominations for Best New Artist and the other for Best Song Written For Motion Picture.
To see progress of the studio and album, Imogen Heap is documenting the building of her studio on her vblog on the website: http://www.imogenheap.co.uk/
