London-based Rainbow Post to hold HD post event on 13 February 2008
London’s Rainbow Post will be hosting an open evening for Production Managers and Producers at their Soho-based post-production facility from 6pm to 8pm on 13 February 2008. Rainbow is holding the event to educate attendees on how to run smooth and cost-effective HD post-production projects.
Topics covered at the meeting will be: choosing the format, before the shoot, staying on budget, dealing with archive material, on-line and graphics, surround sound and deliverables and dubs.
Rainbow's Managing Director Nick Rogers stated, "We've just completed our 100th HD project, and would like to share some of our experience with others in the business. We know that there are many production companies who want to make the switch to full HD production but aren't sure how to proceed or what their ideal HD workflow should be. It's confusing — there are lots of ways to make programmes in HD, some of which are time-consuming and expensive and others which aren't.
We've noticed that if we advise companies on workflow at an early stage of their HD productions, the whole process of post-production goes more smoothly and quickly. That not only makes our job easier, it keeps our clients on budget."
"We would normally ask for up to two working weeks to complete the video post for a 90-minute HD programme, depending on deliverables," adds Rainbow's Chief Video Editor Steve Gilbert, "but when we're given programmes by clients who we've prepared with properly, we've been able to do 90-minute shows in as little as four days. It shows you what can be done with a little thought beforehand."
