TL Audio sponsored event finds new talent
Monday, December 3, marked the first annual MP3 Awards, sponsored by valve outboard equipment manufacturer, TL Audio.
The fledgling event was conceived to support new music and allow fresh artists to showcase their talent and creative flair before a live audience. For the six young winners, the awards represent a foot in the door to the entertainment industry.
The 18 finalists – selected from public votes – were joined by established artists, such as Che’Nelle and Wretch 32, at the evening hosted by former CBS Morning Show presenter, Sonia Uribe, at The Grand, London.
An esteemed panel of judges, including PRS Chairman Ellis Rich and Jules Standen, the engineer behind The Lemonheads radio hit, Mrs Robinson, were on hand to choose an overall winner from each of six categories. Chocolate Blonde, in the Best Performing Act category, (pictured above, right, with presenter Sonia Uribe) was one of the artists lucky enough to take home a three-year publishing agreement and a high spec, TL Audio Class A Quality Tube outboard unit.
Sarah Yule, Sales and Marketing Manager at TL Audio, commented on the success of the evening: “It went really well, there were some great performances on the night and I thought that for the first show, they really pulled it off. It was exciting to see the wealth of talent there and as the years go by, the popularity of the event and the turnout will grow.”
