Continued growth predicted for high-end audio systems
InfoComm released the results of a new study at the ISE 2010 tradeshow, which revealed that the global increase in demand for AV products and services will see it grow to a €64.7 billon euro industry by 2012.
Based on a study findings made by Acclaro Growth Partners on behalf of InfoComm International, The 2010 InfoComm Global AV Market and Definition and Strategy Study showed that the growth of the digital signage, videoconferencing and command and control facilities resulted in an eight per cent compound in annual growth in demand for AV products and services between 2006 and 2009. The study shows that, despite the recession, AV was a €48.4 billion a year industry in 2009, with a further 10 per cent compound annual growth projected for 2012.
The study revealed that factors specific to the pro audio industry were increased demand for directional and cone speakers in digital signage applications. Other AV product categories that experienced growth were AV conferencing equipment, streaming media and webcasting and wireless connections and software.
Randal A. Lemke, executive director and CEO, InfoComm International commented: “While we are heartened by the findings of the study we are not surprised. The AV industry is growing because society relies on AV technology to provide essential communication solutions.”
Further research proved that AV applications such as digital signage, videoconferencing and digitized high-end audio systems will continue to drive growth for the next three years, with extra uplift from AV control systems manufacturers’ ability to provide total building automation creating additional growth due to emerging concerns relating to energy efficiency and building sustainability. The study also showed that the corporate, educational and government markets are the three largest consumers of AV products and services.
