This year’s Royal Variety Performance hosted top tier performers, including Peter Kay, Alexandra Burke, Whoopi Goldberg, Kanye West and Lady Ga Ga.
Broadcast for the first time in 50 years from Blackpool’s legendary Opera House, the event featured a performance by Whoopi Goldberg alongside the cast of the West End production Sister Act. Goldberg and the cast used Trantec S6 Wireless Microphone Systems exclusively during the performance. Together they performed a rendition of Raise Your Voice to Her Royal Highness the Queen and nine million TV viewers.
The equipment was specified by Surbiton based, specialist broadcast audio supplier Plus 4 Audio, who provided 24 channels of S6 radio microphones. Plus 4 has a wealth of experience in high profile, live sound broadcast applications, including prestigious shows such as Dancing on Ice, Ant and Dec, The National Television Awards, Celebrity Love Island and Children in Need and have a long standing professional relationship with Trantec.
Stewart Chaney MD Plus 4 Audio commented: “The S6 was the ideal choice for the job. It’s robust and easy to install. We get eight channels into 2U of rack space, which saves valuable space on site, and the system incorporates a comprehensive user-interface on the front panel, which allows you to configure and monitor the channels with or without an external PC.
“We have worked with Trantec product for many years and have recently upgraded our stock from S6000 to 48 channels of the new S6. We have also invested in the S7000 Digital system and are really happy with the results we are getting”.
