Digital console helps production company go green
ML Executives has invested in a Soundcraft Vi6 digital console as an integral part of the sound system it is providing for the forthcoming Iron Maiden world tour.
Supplied by Harman Pro UK, the desk was chosen specifically for the forthcoming tour by the iconic British metal band’s FOH engineer, Doug Hall. It will be added to the production company’s extensive arsenal of touring equipment when the band returns home at the end of summer.
“In previous years we have shipped the entire sound system, including stacks, racks, and monitors, to each Iron Maiden venue around the world”, explained Des Jabir, Operations Manager of ML Executives. “This year we are putting together a more streamlined control and monitoring package for the plane section of the tour – India to South America – to reduce the weight and therefore carbon footprint of what is sent. This new setup means that the FOH desk has to be digital.”
The Vi6 is the first digital console from Soundcraft and the company’s flagship mixing desk, aimed at the live and installed sound markets. The Vi6 gives direct access to all functions at all times using touch-screen colour-coded TFT monitors with rotary controls and switches built in and around the glass, which provides maximum information and visibility.
One of Europe’s leading event production companies, ML Executives has been providing Iron Maiden with premium quality sound systems, backline and associated services for five years.
