IIR Exhibitions makes its position on counterfeiting clear
Premier Middle East trade show, PALME, has stepped up the battle against counterfeiting with a zero tolerance policy on forgeries and trademark infringement.
Participating companies at the upcoming PALME Middle East exhibition in Dubai are being warned by organisers, IIR Exhibitions, that if found to be infringing copyright and patent protection legislation, they will have their stands closed or their products removed. Ejection from the show and blacklisting from future IIR events will follow.
“This is part of an ongoing campaign to address industry concerns over product piracy and copycat manufacturers,” explained group director of PALME, Neil Hickman (pictured).
“The issue is a global one and we want to ensure all our events are fake-free. Counterfeit products stifle innovation and creativity, the very essence of our industry.”
To avoid confusion, PALME has issued an official statement, which has been included in information packs sent to exhibitors. The statement reiterates IIR Exhibitions’ copycat policy and confirms that all exhibitors must own and have valid rights to manufacture, use, perform, sell and display patented products, copyright works, trademarks and trade names.
