Brand new facility attracts business from Elvis Costello and Universal Records
Producer Mike Cave has expanded his private studio operation with the launch of Loft Mastering in Liverpool, UK.
Housed in the same building as Cave’s established recording studios, Loft Mastering is a professional independent facility that is already attracting projects from major artists and record labels including The Charlatans, Elvis Costello, The Coral and Universal Records. A full mastering service is offered, covering CD, vinyl and DVD mastering, custom PQ and ISRC encoding, sound restoration, digital editing, secure FTP facilities and CD, vinyl and DVD duplication and manufacture.
“With Loft Studios now well-established and in its eighth year of operation, launching Loft Mastering was an obvious next step, especially as this type of facility is in short supply in the North of England,” explained Mike Cave. “Our aim is to offer artists, producers and record labels a first-rate service that allows them to get the best from their music. Loft Mastering’s philosophy is to create great sounding, optimised, balanced and coded CD masters ready for manufacture.”
With more than 15 years experience as a producer, engineer and, more recently, studio owner, Cave studied at the London College of Music and played in a number of bands before joining Liverpool’s Parr Street Studios in 1994 as an in-house recording and mastering engineer. He went freelance in 2000, and has subsequently built a strong reputation as a producer, engineer, mixer and programmer. His success has earned him a string of top ten albums and singles, and numerous multi-platinum, gold and silver sales awards. Cave has worked with The Charlatans, The Coral, John Martyn and Echo And the Bunnymen, amongst others.
Loft Mastering is equipped with Digidesign Pro Tools HD 3 Accel, up to 192kHz 5.1 Surround Sound; high end analogue EQ and compression including vintage Neve, SSL, Focusrite, Avalon, TLA and DAV; Genelec and Yamaha monitoring and high end mastering software including plugins from TC Electronic, Pultec, Fairchild, Sony Oxford, URS, and Focusrite, amongst others.
