Hard Rock Band Gotthard Pumps it Up with Meyer Sound M’elodie
With ten chart-topping albums and sales of over two million records worldwide, Gotthard has long been one of Switzerland’s most successful hard rock bands. In fact, more than one million albums have been purchased in Switzerland alone – quite an accomplishment in a country of just over seven million people.
The five-piece band is currently in the midst of an 80-city European tour in support of their latest release, Domino Effect, rocking packed halls and arenas through a powerful Meyer Sound system courtesy of Hanover, Germany-based Rocksound Management GmbH.
The sound system comprises left and right arrays of 12 M’elodie line array loudspeakers each, with powerful bass provided by two 600-HP subwoofers per side. On stage, four MJF-212A stage monitors handle the band’s monitoring.
A fan of Meyer Sound’s MILO family loudspeakers, Lothar Strunk of Rocksound is pleased with the capabilities of the compact M’elodie loudspeaker. “The M’elodie’s output is truly exceptional for such a small cabinet,” says Strunk, who is also the tour’s FOH mixer and technical director. “It’s powerful, but also delivers great intelligibility. And the small size makes it very easy to handle as well.”
Feedback from the press and the band’s fans have echoed Strunk’s comments, with overwhelmingly positive reviews of Gotthard’s shows across the entire continent. Attendance has topped 150,000 on the tour dates thus far.
