German Bob and Luge World Championships benefit from KME sound systems
Altenberg, situated in the German Ore Mountains, was recently the host to one of the biggest sport events in the winter season 2008; the Luge World Cup , the FIBT Bob and Skeleton World Championship and the Pro Sieben Wok World Championship.
Sound reinforcement on the track and for events at the Erzgebirgsarena, was provided by Media Service Oberwiesenthal, which chose the K.M.E. line array system PANO.
At the finishing line of the ice rink 12 PANO QL 906 line source units and 12 PANO subs QLB 118 amplified by a SR 7100 system rack were utilised to cover the 85 metre long area which stretched from the finishing line to the presentation ceremoniy area.
In addition, the athletes got their information during the races via loudspeaker, and here again, PANO QL 906 line array unita were also used.
On stage at the “Erzgebirgsarena” 12 QL 906, six QCB 318 cardioid subs with a high front-to-back damping and dual SR 7100 system racks were installed for concerts by Linda Feller, Ute Freudenberg and the famous mountaineer choir from Dresden. The array and quantity of the PANO systems within the particular locations was calculated by the simualtion software PANO Focus. Through the pre-calculated angeling of the elements acoustical specialities the huge distances of the PA to the audiences’ area could be solved optimally.
"Every event service company knows which features of a PA are required in winter with snow, ice, steady rain and drops of temperature," stated Arndt Neukirchner, Technical Director of Media Service Oberwiesenthal.
"The sound was brilliant at all events no matter what weather, an essential factor in contest conditions. As the athletes receive their information via loudspeakers, the power of the PA system is of prime importance. The easy handling of the system is as remarkable as the first-class support during set-up and the events provided by the K.M.E. team.“
