710 Twin-Finity Preamp and 1176AE Limiting Amplifier make world debut
Amsterdam - Universal Audio (UA) has introduced a 'radical' new preamplifier, 710 Twin-Finity, which according to the company, combines retro UA Tube warmth with the transient bite of Solid-State.
The 710 is joined by the 1176AE, a limited edition anniversary model of the classic limiting amplifier celebrating a decade since UA’s refounding by Bill Putnam Jnr.
The 710 Twin-Finity Single Channel, Tube and Solid-State, Tone-Blending Preamp (pictured) is considered a radically new UA preamp design with dual signal paths, and is centered around an innovative phase-aligned 'Tone-Blending' knob which is continually variable from 100 per cent Tube to 100 per cent Solid-State for a myriad of unique pre-amp tones. The 710 will ship worldwide in July 2008.
“The 710 Twin-Finity is a brand new UA design aimed at DAW users who want to upgrade their IO pre’s with our revolutionary 'Tone-Blending' technology combining tone, character and affordability.” said Mike Barnes, VP of Marketing for Universal Audio.
“Whether you want retro tubes or modern solid-state, the 710 Twin-Finity delivers both a real 300V tube section and transimpedance solid-state preamp path. Add to this the dual-gain feature and you can go from straight-wire-with-gain to creamy to crunchy, and handle DI duties for active/passive guitars/basses all in one quality box. ”
Manufactured in a strictly limited run of 500, the 1176AE Anniversary Edition combines the best of the A 'Bluestripe' and E revisions while adding the lower 2 to 1 compression ratio found on the 176. In addition, a new 'Slo' attack mode gives the 1176AE the potential for both classic and 'uniquely individual compression effects' and ships in June 2008.
“The 1176AE pays tribute to the legend that is the 1176, my father’s amazing ear and audio design legacy, and all the pro engineers and UA users that have believed in UA products in the past decade inspiring us to re-create the magic that is Universal Audio.” said Bill Putnam, CEO, Founder, and Owner of Universal Audio.
“The 1176AE is a truly special edition with unique sonic heritage from the predecessor of the 1176, the 176, the first 'Bluestripe' or A revision, and the last great Class A rev. E 'Blackface' version. ”
