A D-Show Profile is being on Sheryl Crow's spring tour
Sean “Sully” Sullivan, FOH engineer for Sheryl Crow’s spring tour, has created a simplified live sound system with a Digidesign Venue D-Show Profile.
Sullivan is an experienced engineer who has worked on past tours for Beck and Justin Timberlake. For Crow’s tour he has swapped out an analog console for the D-Show, thus reducing his footprint by utilising the D-Show’s on board TDM plugins.
The system is also combined with a Pro Tools|HD system, which allows Sullivan to record the sets and integrate the programs production tools to the mix in each venue.
“On this tour, I have a very small simple setup,” he explained.
“When my production manager saw my rig he asked, ‘When does the rest of it arrive?’ But the bonus is, with the Venue [D-Show] Profile, my favourite plug-ins and a Pro Tools rig, I am achieving album-quality mixes night after night!”
Sullivan has also found the board’s Virtual Soundcheck feature has saved him a great deal of set up time and helped the sound at each show. He explained: I no longer rely on the band to show up at soundcheck. Now I only need to update and make new snapshots while playing back actual shows from my Pro Tools HD 3 rig. It’s simply amazing!”
