Wealth of new features includes database of recording professionals
The Music Producers Guild has launched a new website, designed to make it much easier for artists, artist managers and record company A&R personnel to identify the right producer or engineer for forthcoming projects.
The new site, which was unveiled at the Apple Centre in London, incorporates a wealth of new features including a sophisticated search facility where those looking for a recording professional can search by name and/or musical genre. MPG members can upload their CVs and showcase their work via an audio player, making it much easier for potential clients to access their information.
“Recording professionals are vital to the success of the entire music industry, especially at the early stages of an artist’s career when the expertise and guidance they bring to a project can make all the difference,” explained MPG chairman, Mike Howlett. “However, identifying the right producer or engineer for a particular project is not always easy as recording professionals tend to be self employed and information about them has never been collated in one place before.
Our new site aims to redress this issue by providing a one-stop shop, where recording professionals can showcase their CVs in an easy to access format. Over time, we believe this site will attract many more producers and engineers to MPG and provide artists and record companies with a valuable, time-saving resource.”
Prior to re-designing its site the MPG conducted extensive research to identify the features and facilities that members and the music industry wanted. Alongside the search facilities, the site also provides a sounding off blog entitled The Vocal Booth, a knowledge base with examples of standard contracts, topic-related blogging threads, a news page, a press resource, useful industry links and an increased range of discounted member’s benefits.
“We are very pleased with the look and accessibility of this site and are confident that it will prove useful to both our members and the music industry as a whole,” added Howlett.
