Music giant launches new web resource for teachers

Yamaha Music UK has launched a new educational resource, Yamaha Education Friends, a place where teachers, groups and music education practitioners can connect, interact and collaborate with each other.

In line with Yamaha's core aim of attracting more people into music making, the new site will support teachers, by helping them to share ideas, problems and solutions with other teaching colleagues throughout the UK. The plan is to grow a vibrant on-line community around the site, which is powered by Webjam, and features forums and discussion boards, one-to-one communication with other members, YouTube video links, MP3 player and more.

Additionally, the Webjam has a unique replication system, which allows teachers to create their own blogs about music education that can be linked back to the main community. Members can keep themselves updated about up-coming events in the industry and Yamaha schemes for students and teacher workshops.

Streaming video and MP3 files can also be posted.

"We are really inspired by our new education community resource,” enthused Yamaha's recently appointed education manager, Bill C Martin (pictured). “Our original idea was a blog-style environment where teachers could exchange ideas and contribute to the music education debate, but having teamed up with Webjam, we realised we could do so much more. We strongly urge teachers and musicians who work in education to visit and take a look."

Yamaha reports that the site has already attracted a large number of visitors and its community is growing quickly. New members can join up free by visiting www.yamahaeducation.co.uk
