UK high-end audio distributor takes on German processor line
UK high-end audio product distributor Unity Audio has added the elysia product line to its extensive portfolio.
The announcement coincides with the arrival of a new product from the German manufacturer, the compressor-mpressor
According to Unity, with the mpressor, elysia, introduces a new tool for creative dynamics processing. Each of both linkable channels offers a switchable Auto-Fast function that allows very fast yet distortion-free compression without any artifacts. The Antilog circuit generates explicit compression effects such as pumping and breathing. The variable area filters impress sonic seals which range from discreet to striking with the possibility of a continuous frequency shift.
Another proprietary feature, Maximum Reduction, is a novel concept that makes the complete intensity of the compression assessable with only one controller. Switchable external sidechain inputs make for further flexibility in terms of sound composition.
The circuit design of the mpressor is completely based on discrete analog technology. The entire signal processing is realized with single transistors in permanent Class A mode, and even the sidechain and power supply are composed of fully discrete circuits. Oversized power supplies, capsuled conductive plastic potentiometers, internal temperature stabilizers for critical components as well as special current feedback amplifiers are part of the technical finesse. The combination of these elements aims at the maximum of reachable signal quality and guarantees clean and powerful sound characteristics even when extreme settings are used.
The first product by the company – the alpha compressor for sophisticated mastering applications – has caused interest around the world since its release and has won a PAR Excellence Award as well as an MIX Certified Hit Award.
The initiators of the company founded in Nettetal (Germany) in 2006 are Ruben Tilgner and Dominik Klaßen.
Ruben Tilgner has a heritage in many successful development projects: besides others, he has designed the Transient Designer, the GainStation and the MixDream for SPL. Based on his experience in the marketing sector, Dominik Klaßen concentrates on communication, product design and sales related topics.
