Neutrik add bling to XLRs
While Amy Winehouse's Glastonbury performance may have been seen as a 'triumph' or alternatively 'staggeringly punchy' depending on your point of view, for Neutrik, a name synonymous with some of the highest-quality cable connections, the beehive bedecked diva's show marked one of the first high-profile outings for its new crystalCON, a bejewelled range of XLR connectors.
Yes indeed, following the current trend for covering microphones (and it seems every other conceivable item, including allegedly a drum kit) with Swarovski crystals, Neutrik has joined the fray with a new range which incorporates several of the 'crystallised' elements embedded into the black metal housing.
Two versions are available, the NC3FXX-B-Crystal female XLR and the NC3MXX-B-Crystal male XLR. Both incorporate the standard 3-pole design with gold contacts as featured in the company's XX series of connectors, and are available now.
Rumours that the new XLRs add a little extra sparkle to the sound seem unfounded, however an industry insider has intimated that when used in a correctly feng shui designed stage layout, the perceived results may be improved.
