Royal pop diva tours Europe with a Meyer Sound system
Recent OBE recipient, Kylie Minogue has recently set out on a three-month European tour, which features a Meyer Sound system consisting of MILO line arrays as main hangs.
Fourteen MILO and two MILO 120 line arrays are in place for left and right hangs on her KYLIE2008 tour. Larger venues on the tour will also use two additional side arrays made up of 12 MICA elements. UK-based Capital Sound provided the Meyer system for the gigs.
FOH engineer Chris Pyne is very pleased with the MILO rig. He commented: “The MILO really offers the right mix of power and articulation. I’ve always been a fan of Meyer Sound’s self-powered design; it’s a space saver as well as an efficient and reliable package.
“On this tour, we’ve got a lot of back-to-back shows.
We are able to pre-rig the arrays and distribute cables, and transport them four-high on caster frames; it dramatically reduces setup time and makes it safer and more efficient for the crew.”
A combination of six flown 600-HP subwoofers are also placed on either side of the stage for low-end coverage with eight 700-HP subwoofers per side on the ground.
“Pyne wanted a powerful but present low end, with both power and attack; therefore, we suggested the 600-HP and 700-HP together as an ideal combination to achieve that,” explained Paul Timmins, Capital Sound’s project manager.
The tour will stop off in Stockholm, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Glasgow, London, Manchester and Riga.
