Niagara Falls Visitor Centre opens a new exhibit featuring the TiMax delay and matrix show control surface
US distributor 1602Group provided the TiMax system, which is used to control animated sound scapes for the centre's Niagara’s Fury exhibition.
The show allows visitors to experience what it is like to be in the middle of the falls. Images of the waterfall, icy wind, drips from the ceiling, an avalanche of rocks and splintering trees rush past the audience to make the show more realisitic.
Coupled with revolutionary video projection methods, the TiMax ImageMaker8 matrix takes eight playback sources and routes them to six channels of JBL's surround speakers. The ImageMaker manages a variety of sound effects using continuously varying Haas effect delays to create the image positioning of sounds in the exhibit.
To add realism to the exhibit the audio tracks have complex delay treatment effects that are dynamically cross-matrixed into the speaker's feeds in order to match the direction of the wind and weather elements used for the exhibit.
