Abitare la musica provides 13,000 square meters for worldwide distribution
The Proel Group has announced a new logistics hub, for the storage and distribution of its products worldwide
The ambitious project, completed during the summer by the Proel Group and named Abitare la musica (Living the Music), is part of the ongoing enlargement of the headquarter premises in Sant Omero, Italy which consolidates logistical activities such as the storage, sorting, transportation and preparation of products for shipments worldwide.
The hub is a fundamental step for the group, which is becoming increasingly focussed on rationalising corporate processes to provide better service to European and overseas markets. Run by a specialised logistics operator, the new hub will bring a series of significant positive changes, such as a substantial simplification of the distribution flow, eliminating costly and time-consuming procedures often associated with external operators, as well as an increased flexibility and a faster response time.
The logistics structure has been equipped with highly advanced technological systems some of which have been designed by Proel, in order to guarantee absolute safety to people and goods and to provide maximum efficiency and uninterrupted customer service.
These systems range from the state-of-the-art automated container load/unload system, which operates 24 hours a day, to the careful arrangement of the facility's outer space and roads to a photovoltaic system, capable of generating peak power up to one megawatt.
The heart of the PA system for reproduction of speech and background music, consists of an 18U rack which broadcasts signals and announcements to eight different zones through 68 distributed speakers, all made by Proel and controlled by the ‘Zone 8’ device.
“The value chain of the Group is now complete,” explained Marco Calabrese, chief operating officer of Proel, who is in charge of project implementation. “This new facility located in Sant’Omero has been designed to ensure effective inventory management and error-free inventory turnover and planning. A new supply procedure, an accurate monitoring system and faster processing times, supported by a technologically advanced IT platform, will improve the quality of our service. Thanks to the state-of-the-art equipment used, storage of products differs according to their specific characteristics and their transfer from warehouse to shipment processing areas strictly complies with product handling regulations.”
