Over 40,000 attend the UK comedy tour
Lee Evans Big Tour visited UK cities this yeas with a Martin Audio W8L Longbow system controlled by XTA DP226 loudspeaker management systems.
Capital Sound Hire provided the gear for Evans' tour. The five sold-out shows at London’s 02 Arena used 10 x W8L Longbow (and two W8LD Downfills) per side, with 16-box hangs (plus the two Downfills) rigged high above the audience. Sidefills were comprised of 16 W8LC’s (and two W8LCD’s) per side along with a centre cluster of four W8LM’s and four EM15’s.
A further line of eight Martin Audio WS218X subs were placed along the front of the stage apron, reinforced by four, stacked Martin Audio W2’s for front fills. The system was created to ensure that the sound for the show was properly broadcast to each member of the audience.
Evans’ 2005 tour used a W8LC compact line array. FOH engineer, Phil Tame mixed the shows on a Midas XL3 and chose Martin’s Longbow array for this tour in order to utilise the dynamics of the systems to create excitement for certain parts of the show.
The Martin system was controlled by 11 of XTA’s DP226 loudspeaker management systems. “We have all the delay XTAs in the rack as a master unit and we use that as a matrix to drive the other XTAs which are stage end, which runs straight off the multicore,” explained audio crew chief Matt Harman-Trick. “It’s all being controlled by a Moxa unit and we run everything from a graphics tablet so that we can wander round the room and make any the changes using XTA’s AudioCore software.”
The tour also uses XTA SiDD for compression of Evan’s vocals, which is Y spilt to accommodate song vocals and speech vocals.
