T in The Park, The Mighty Boosh and Bestival also amongst winners at O2 event

The awards for the UK’s best festivals were announced at a special event ceremony on Thursday, October 30th at the 02 Indigo in London.

Known as the Oscars of the festival world, Virtual Festivals.com has been producing the awards since 2004 to recognize the organizers and artists involved in the UK festival scene.

Over twenty awards were given in categories ranging from best major festival and most memorable moment to best toilets. The nominees were voted online by festivalgoers who are then entered in a competition to win free tickets to one of next year’s events.

To level the playing field festival votes were weighted by event capacity, giving smaller festivals the same chance as larger events.

The winners are as follows:

Best Major Festival: Glastonbury

Best Lineup: T in the Park
Best New Festival: Camp Bestival
