Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9 headphones win CES Innovations Award

Audio-Technica is being given a CES Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Award for its ATH-ANC9 QuietPoint active noise-cancelling headphones.

Features of the ATH-ANC9 include exclusive Tri-Level Cancellation selectable noise-cancellation settings and an inline microphone and controller for answering calls and controlling music.

Products entered into the 2013 Innovations program are judged by a panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the media. The entries are judged on engineering, aesthetic and design qualities; the product’s intended function, use and value; unique features that consumers would find attractive and other attributes.

The ATH-ANC9 (RRP £279) blocks up to 95 per cent of outside noise, while delivering high sound quality. Tri-Level Cancellation provides three preset filters for noise reduction over a wide range of environmental noise conditions. Mode 1 is ideal for use on airplanes, trains and buses and applies maximum noise-cancellation to low frequencies, Mode 2 is designed for noisy offices and crowded places, while Mode 3 is best for quiet locations like libraries.

Replaceable memory foam earpads provide comfort, and precision 40mm drivers and electronics are designed to offer clear, natural full-range sound. The cans can also work when the noise-cancelling function is turned off, and operate in passive mode without batteries. They also fold flat for storage and come with two detachable cables, 1/4-inch adapter, airline adapter, hard carrying case and AAA battery.
