Chinese X Factor winner teams up with AKG at FA Cup Final

This month’s FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium saw Chinese X Factor winner Mary-Jess Leaverland lead 90,000 supporters in a rendition of ‘Abide With Me’ through an AKG DMS 700 digital wireless system equipped with an AKG D5 vocal capsule.

Prior to her performance on the pitch she performed at a private function to an audience of VIPs and celebrities in the Bobby Moore Room, including Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, utilising an AKG WMS 4500 analogue wireless microphone.

Leaverland’s tour manager Cliff Whitehead, who supplied both the mics and the AKG IVM 4500 in-ear monitoring system, commented: “She loved using the new digital system. In fact, everybody I spoke to backstage commented on how clear she sounded in comparison to other artistes performing on the day.  The DMS 700 blew other wireless systems being used out of the water … not only in the Stadium but in the TV transmission.”

The AKG DMS700 features 100 per cent digital audio transmission with no compander and is designed to deliver optimum audio clarity. Additional features include 512-bit secure encryption and full Channel 38 compliancy with UK presets. Furthermore, as of this month the company’s D7 capsule will be available for DMS700.

The sound for Leaverland’s on-pitch performance was mixed from a control area a few rows up in the stand, which included a 4U rack unit that contained the DMS transmitters, receivers and antenna distribution.
