Earls Court demolition to go ahead

Plans to demolish Earls Court – venue for the PLASA show for the past 21 years – have now been approved.

The decision was made last night (November 20th 2012) by Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea (RBKC), giving Capital & Counties Properties PLC (Capco) the green light to build more than 7,500 new homes on the site of the exhibition centre.

The Section 106 agreement, which provides for significant investment in improvements to the area, in categories such as transport, employment and training, is now being finalised with the local authorities.

The scheme is expected to take 20 years to complete.

PLASA announced back in August that its annual show will take place at London's ExCeL venue from next year.
