The world of music has paid tribute to Whitney Houston at the 2012 Grammy Awards, which saw British pop sensation Adele scoop six awards on the night.
Leading the tributes at 54th annual awards show was Jennifer Hudson, who took to the stage to perform ‘I Will Always Love You’, originally written by Dolly Parton yet famously covered by Houston for the soundtrack of The Bodygaurd.
However, Adele also made the headlines having picked up six Grammys, including Best Song and Best Record for ‘Rolling in the Deep’, as well as Album of the Year for 21.
Rock legend Bruce Springsteen also caused a stir on the night, performing the politically charged ‘We Take Care of Our Own’ from his forthcoming album, while Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl commented on the increasing amount of electronically treated dance music dominating the charts, stating: “The human element of making music is most important. Singing into a microphone, learning to play your instrument … it’s not about being perfect… It’s not about what goes on in a computer, but what goes on in here [head] and what goes on in here [heart].” The US rockers also won big on the night taking home five awards.
