Groove Armada to return to Lovebox festival for 10th anniversary

Groove Armada are to return to perform at this year’s Lovebox festival—which they cofounded—as the London Common event celebrates its 10th anniversary.

This worldwide exclusive on June 16th 2012 will see the electro-music duo pull together one last show after they announced they were not undertaking any further live shows a few years back.

The festival—which runs from June 15th to June 17th—will also see the likes of Hot Chip, Friendly Fires, Emeli Sande, Bobby Womack, Grace Jones, Lana Del Ray and many more perform.

“2002. Clapham Common. We'd decided to do an outdoor live gig, turn it into a bit of a party. It had sold out in 4 minutes,” explained the pair. “Which is when the chaos started. Enough mates to work the door, enough loo roll for the ladies, enough generators, lights, sound and action to make it the kind of party a London common had never seen. Ten years later and our love letter to the capital had become a 3 day weekend for 50,000 people.”

With the massive expansion of the event, it seemed a necessity that Groove Armada made a return to the Main Stage of the festival.

“From Blondie to Hospitality, Roxy and Grace to Rinse and Horsemeat Disco, Duran to Sub Focus, Del Rey to Snoop,” they added. “Talking to the regulars about a Decade of Love, it was clear that GA Live had to make a return. Those 6 years we closed the Saturday were iconic Lovebox moments. Unlike 2002, we can get ready for the 10th birthday gig without having to build the fence at the same time.”

Recently the event organisers have named a number of other performers for the three days. On Friday Devlin has been added and on Saturday—in addition to Groove Armada—number-one selling artist Rita Ora as well as Maverick Sabre. Whilst on Sunday attendees will see Crystal Fighters as well as former Groove Armada frontwoman, Saint Saviour.
