InfoComm 2012: Crest Audio announces Nx Dante-8 NexSys control module

Mississippi-based pro audio manufacturer, Crest Audio, announces the arrival of its new Nx Dante-8 NexSys control module at InfoComm 2012 expo in Las Vegas.

The Nx Dante-8 NexSys control module works in tandem with the new Crest Audio CKd and Ci series of power amplifiers. The new control module will support Crest NexSys 5 and Peavey MediaMatrix NWare audio software programs.

The Nx Dante-8 module fits into the rear bay of the CKd and Ci series power amps and supports all NexSys functions, DSP functions and Dante digital audio I/O via 1 Gb Ethernet connection.

For more demanding applications, the Nx Dante-8’s primary and secondary 1 Gb ports provide system redundancy. Equally, eight Dante audio inputs and eight Dante audio outputs allow users significant audio routing capabilities.

The Nx Dante-8 also comes ready with a full suite of DSP options. These include delay, PEQ, compression/limiting, crossover and mixing—all of which add to the tech’s functionality.

Amplifier controls and monitoring options include Real Time Load Monitoring, ACL (Automatic Clip Limiting), IGM (Instantaneous Gain Modulation), input/output VU, Gain, Mute, Solo, DC, thermal protection, AC/DC monitoring, and Sequential Turn On/Off (remote power). What is more, through the use of the Crest NexSys 5 protocol, devices can be controlled and monitored from multiple application instances.

So what about the new CKd power amps? Well, Crest Audio’s CKd series includes the CKd 1208, CKd 1204, CKd 608 and CKd 604.

The CKd 1208 and 1204 provide 1,250 watts per channel in eight and four channels, respectively. However, the CKd 608 and CKd 604 provide 625 watts per channel in eight and four channels, respectively. According to the company, each amplifier channel will operate to rated power in direct 70-volt, 100-volt, 8-ohm or 4-ohm modes. This will be configurable per channel.

The Crest Audio Nx Dante-8 module—which like the CKd series amps is covered by a five-year warranty—will be available in Q4 2012 from authorised Crest Audio dealers.

Features and specifications are subject to change without notice.

You can see Crest Audio at InfoComm 2012 in the Las Vegas Convention Center between June 13th and 15th in Booth C10319.
