ISE 2013: Sennheiser unveils LSP 500 PRO loudspeaker

The wireless Sennheiser LSP 500 PRO speaker is being unveiled at ISE, offering high quality sound and simple control.

Not only does it eliminate the need for cables, it also allows for up to 20 loudspeakers to be remotely controlled at the same time via the LSP 500 PRO app, which essentially takes over the functions of a mixing console and makes it easy for the user to control the various audio settings. Configurations can be set for individual or groups of speakers, as well as for the audio sources connected to them.

“The app is a genuine labour-saving device for setting up PA systems at an event,” explained Martin Gurtner, portfolio manager at Sennheiser's Integrated Systems Division. “This user-friendly and efficient application makes the Sennheiser LSP 500 PRO loudspeaker the ideal partner for events of all sizes, such as congresses, galas or press conferences.”

Each unit can take up to three receivers for wireless mics, and each also has a combined socket for a 6.3mm jack plug and XLR-3 connector for wired microphones. The loudspeaker is additionally equipped with a USB connector and Bluetooth interface, as well as an AUX input and output. If more than a single loudspeaker is being used, one can be defined as the master and connected with the others – the slaves – via a wireless link.

Every LSP 500 PRO has a built-in music player that enables music to be played directly from an external device via USB or Bluetooth. The music player also has a recording function, which allows audio input to be recorded directly onto a USB device.

The speaker has room for two batteries, but uses only one to supply power at any time. This ensures reliable operation and an operating period of up to seven hours.

The LSP 500 PRO is compatible with microphones from Sennheiser’s evolution wireless 100, 300 and 500 series. It comes with a dust cover, while a white cover, padded protective cover and trolley bag are available as optional accessories. The new loudspeaker will be available from May 2013, and the app can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple iTunes Store from May onwards.
