JHS hires Ben Robinson as UK and Eire House Accounts Manager

Leeds-based worldwide independent trade distributor, John Hornby Skewes, has announced that it has hired Ben Robinson as the company’s new House Accounts Manager for the UK and Eire.

Robinson previously worked as Commercial Manager at the UK’s oldest musical instrument retailer, the Banks Musicroom.

Musicroom is the instrument retail division of the international Music Sales Group. During his time at Musicroom’s flagship store in York, Robinson and his team helped get the store nominations for “Retailer of the Year 2010” and "Best Orchestral Store 2011”.

Robinson, who is himself an accomplished musician, gained a Classical Music degree at Lancaster University and studied for a Masters in Jazz Performance at the Leeds College of Music.

“After having performed around the world—from cruise ships to cathedrals—and having spent a number of years in MI retail,” explained Robinson, “I’m looking forward to the commercial challenge of account management. I’m proud to have the opportunity to join JHS with its terrific product offering and diverse customer base.”

JHS was founded in the 1960s in the home of John Hornby Skewes himself in Garforth, near Leeds. Since then the company has grown to become a leading international distributor. The company is clearly excited that they have been able to hire Robinson to join their burgeoning and successful team.

“Ben’s bright, confident, enthusiastic and passionate about what he does,” explained JHS’s Sales and Marketing Executive Director, Alan Smith. “These attributes will serve our House Account customers well. While many companies are making cutbacks and redundancies, JHS is able to continue investing in strengthening our sales force and therefore increasing the quality of our customer service.”
