Lauren Laverne to host 2013 MPG Awards

Lauren Laverne has been announced as the host for the 2013 MPG (Music Producers Guild) Awards, which will take place in London on February 7th 2013.

Having began her career in the music industry as a member of indie band Kenickie, Laverne has since become a leading name the world of broadcasting, joining radio station XFM in 1996, before moving to BBC 6Music where she now hosts a daily show.

Laverne has also enjoyed a varied on-screen career, having presented such shows as Transmission, The Culture Show, Style on Trial, 10 o'Clock Live and coverage from music events including Glastonbury and The Mercury Prize.

Steve Levine, chairman of the Music Producers Guild, said: “We are delighted that Lauren will be part of our 2013 Awards ceremony. She is immensely experienced and has a deep understanding of the music industry, both as an artist and a presenter. Her obvious love of music makes her ideally suited to host an event that recognises the recording professionals whose creative talents contribute so much to the hit records we all enjoy.

“Audio professionals have a unique place at the very heart of the music industry,” Levine continued. “As true independents, we have an important role to play in supporting and guiding the artistic creation that is the lifeblood of our industry.”
