MPG to hold 'Creative Music Production' debate

Does current pro audio technology really provide the tools recording professionals want? This is the question that the MPG will explore in a panel discussion at the Music Production Show.

Entitled Creative Music Production – Are We Getting The Tools We Need? the panel will start at 11.30am on Saturday November 24th and will be moderated by producer and MPG (Music Producers Guild) member Tony Platt.

“With the studio environment increasingly becoming a hybrid of hardware and software – virtual and tangible, in and out of the box – we pose the question of whether the gear we are being offered is providing the tools we actually want,” said Platt. “Are there too many versions of the same thing? Does it work the way we want to operate? Are the interfaces intuitive? These are issues that really matter to recording professionals and we felt it was about time we debated them.”

The panel for this event will include Stefan Pope and Andy Bensley, who represent leading equipment distributors KMR and Source Distribution respectively. Both have extensive knowledge of the pro audio industry and deal with world-class manufacturers and recording professionals on a daily basis. They will be joined by Emre Ramazanoglu and Tom Morris – two of the UK biggest young producer/engineers.

Anyone wishing to attend is encouraged to submit their questions in advance to Tony Platt via this email address: tonyplatt@mpg.org.uk.

The Music Production show takes place on November 23rd and 24th at Arsenal FC's Emirates Stadium in London.

The Music Producers Guild Awards takes place on February 7th 2013 at the Café de Paris in London. For more information about the annual celebration of the talent and creativity of the UK’s recording community, visit www.mpgawards.com.
