On the fourth day of the winter NAMM 2012 event in California the organisers announced their “Best in Show—This Year’s Hottest Products”.
For the pro audio camp, Mackie and Line 6 were awarded the “Best in Show” award and Shure were handed a “Gotta Stock It” award.
Mackie DL1608 digital mixer, covered on API on January 21st, is made to incorporate the uniquitous iPad into its user interfacemeaning that it has the power of a fully-featured digital mixer combined with the portability of an iPad. It also has a fascinating (if trippy) video to advertise it.
The Line 6 SmartScape M20d mixer, covered on API on January 20th, was designed for live sound applications and includes an intuitive touch screen visual mixing environment. You can also use it in conjunction with an iPad.
Shure’s Axient wireless management mic system, which has previously won the Sound Product of the Year at ABTT, was also awarded the “Gotta Stock It” award. The Axient is able to not only detect interference but also automatically change frequencies in order to combat it. This is achieved without any user interference at all.

The winners were decided by a panel of experts and announced by Music Inc’s publisher, Frank Alkyer, on January 22nd.
