Canadian loudspeaker manufacturer Adamson has unveiled the Point Series contractor loudspeakers and a new addition to the M-Series monitor family, the M12, at the Prolight+Sound show in Frankfurt.
The new line includes five models complete with EASE Data; the Point eight, Point 12 and Point 15 two-way enclosures, with companion single and double 15-inch subwoofers; the Point 115 Sub and Point 215 Sub. A new four by eight DSP device, The Point Control, is also available for optimal speaker management.
The Point Series incorporates Adamson's Advanced Cone Architecture in all 12-inch and 15-inch cabinets. These unique low-mid transducers have Kevlar cone geometries that reduce modal behaviour, providing an improved and linearised pass-band.
The Point Eight, Point 12 and Point 15 are all available in both, active and passive versions. The Point 15 and Point 12 are equipped with either a 40 by 20, 60 by 40 or 90 by 60 rotatable waveguide for maximum flexibility. The smaller Point Eight is available with a 90 by 60 rotatable waveguide. The height of the Point eight matches the width of the Point 15 (for downfill applications), and the width of the Point 115 Sub for smooth integration into arrays.
The Point 115 sub is a flyable, single 15-inch available in passive and active versions. The passive crossover is designed for a seamless transition with the Point Eight (passive). The active version requires Point Control.Article continues below
The Point 215 Sub is an active cabinet with dual 15-inch drivers loaded in a manifold configuration. The compact package features a built-in threaded pole mount socket and strategically placed standard screws, which can be replaced with eyehooks when needed.
All 2-way enclosures include Side Lock Revolver (SLR) rigging sockets for both vertical and horizontal arraying methods, as does the Point 115 Sub. The SLR rigging system includes Quick-lock vertical and horizontal brackets, as well as the Quick-lock Articulator hardware for 2-deep arrays, and Quick-lock Butterfly Brackets for 2-wide arrays. SLR sockets also host Sight Mount hardware for multiple adjustable angle mounting options. Cabinets are fitted with four 5/16-treads for Omni Mount 40 or 60 wall-mount systems.
Point enclosures offer an anisometric hexagon profile with a foam covered powder coated steel grille. With a sleek industrial design, the enclosures are built of 11-ply, 5/8-inch Baltic birch, the same as Adamson's touring series. A recessed rear panel features a pair of 45-degree angle NL-4 Speakon connectors that allow close mounting to a wall. The 1,114 colours of Pantone Color system are available to contractors who need to color-match loudspeakers, as well as their rigging accessories.
The new lightweight Adamson M12 monitor delivers high gain before feedback, precise pattern control and high output with low distortion. Together, the symmetrical trapezoid design and the 65-degree conical waveguide, allow any two cabinets to operate as a mirrored pair.
The M12 features the ND12L, Adamson’s first lightweight, long-excursion 12-inch Kevlar Neodymium driver supplying power handling and mid frequency response, ideal for demanding vocal performance. The ND12L exhibits low distortion thanks to the qualities of its multilayer Kevlar cone combined with Adamson’s Advanced Cone Architecture, a proprietary technology that dramatically increases the linearised mid-range response by reducing the radial and chaotic modes in the driver’s passband. The Kevlar cone design also enforces durability in wet conditions making the M12 an ideal solution for outdoor events.
The M12’s HF section features a powerful yet lightweight 3-inch diaphragm, 1.4-inch exit, neodymium driver, fitted with an Adamson waveguide, resulting in a complete package measuring only eight-inches by 25.125-inches by 11-inches and weighing in only 51 pounds.
