Liam Howlett, producer and founder of The Prodigy has added Boulder monitors and Avalanche active 12” subs from Unity Audio to his setup.
The active three-way Boulders offer custom discrete E.A.R-designed amplifiers in a sealed enclosure with two ELAC 6.5” woofers, a ELAC 5” dual concentric midrange and 50kHz folded ribbon tweeter. The Avalanche subwoofer is equipped with a 12” downward-firing woofer to reduce vibration and movement.
The sealed cabinet features an aperiodic vent that feeds a second chamber, which helps achieve a flat response down to 22Hz. Controls include crossover presets for Rock and Boulders, as well as variable Low and High pass filters. A wired footswitch is also provided to bypass the Avalanche and route full frequency back to the satellite monitors.
"I like to write loud and these deliver what I need for this new Prodigy record," said Howlett, in reference to to the electronic dance music group's forthcoming album How to Steal a Jetfighter.
