With PLASA 2012 fast approaching, Audio Pro International has complied a top ten list of what not to miss at this year’s show.

Featuring more audio content than ever before, this year’s PLASA show promises to be something of a pro audio extravaganza. And to help make sure you don’t miss any the show’s major highlights, API has provided a rundown of this year’s most anticipated moments. So, have your diaries at the ready, and be sure to note down the following times and places…

The Olympics Uncovered: Backstage at the London 2012 Ceremonies
A unique insight into the world of the 2012 Olympics opening ceremonies, with a once in a lifetime opportunity to find out how the technical teams turned director Danny Boyle's vision into a reality.

When: Wednesday, September 12th, 12.30pm-13.30pm

The Audio Pro International Excellence Awards in association with PLASA 2012
Now in its third year, the API Awards recognises the industry’s finest achievements from the past 12 months. And with a host of new categories for 2012 to boot, including the debut Rising Star of 2012 Award, this year’s awards announcement is not to be missed.

PLASA 2012 Professional Development Programme: ‘Live Music Recording – Capturing Adele at the Royal Albert Hall’
API columnist and audio broadcast veteran Toby Alington leads a fascinating and insightful session on his work on Adele’s acclaimed live show and the interface between live and broadcast sound.

PLASA 2012’s brand new AudioLab
This year’s PLASA 2012 show introduces a brand new pro audio feature in the form of the AudioLab full volume demo area. The AudioLab will be occupied by Norton Audio, Martin Audio and Bose Professional Systems Division on Sunday 9th, Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th, respectively.

2012 Gottelier Awards
The annual presentation is designed to recognise "the product designers and developers who have made a significant and sustained contribution to the development of the equipment and tools that enable our entertainment technology practitioners to continually push the boundaries of event production, presentation and installation."

Soundcraft Si Performer training
Visitors to this year’s show will be given an opportunity to get some hand on experience with Soundcraft’s new Si Performer console; the world’s first live audio mixer with DMX integration. Each free to attend session lasts for one hour.

Allen & Heath launches two new products
Allen & Heath will be utilising the PLASA 2012 platform to launch two new products at this year’s event, as well as showcasing the recently released ZED60-10FX and ZED60-14FX, the GLD digital mixing system, and other recent additions to the ZED and Xone ranges.

PLASA 2012 Professional Development Programme: ‘Mixing the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert
Toby Alington returns to takes us through the thrills and spills of mixing the biggest music event of the year for live world-wide television broadcast.

When: Tuesday, September 11th, 12.30pm-13.30pm

Alchemea College presents ‘Getting a Foot in the Door’
This ‘pull no punches’ talk is aimed at anyone who is serious about developing a career as a live sound engineer. It will explore the exciting employment opportunities, as well as the realities and challenges within the professional live sound industry.

Roland’s ‘Event Within an Event’
Roland Systems Group is looking to create an ‘event within an event’ at this year’s PLASA 2012 show, as it combines new product and software launches with a schedule of ‘Hands On Live Sessions’ hosted by key dealers throughout the show.
